Brief Description of LARSS Program

 

The Langley Aerospace Research Student Scholars, LARSS Program is one of NASA’s most prestigious and successful student research programs, having recently placed among the top ten best internships in the nation. LARSS Program has been providing mentorships in research to undergraduate and graduate students in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) as well as in Business, Communication, Marketing, and other areas that support NASA’s mission for the past 25 years.

 

 

Stipend Information of LARSS Program

 

LARSS Program is a paid internship program. The amount of each student’s stipend  from LARSS Program is based upon his or her student level (undergraduate or graduate). Stipend amounts are based on the 10-week Summer Session period of research, Fall & Spring 15-week Sessions are adjusted accordingly.

 

 

LARSS Program Student Stipends

Graduate Students: $6,000
Rising Undergraduate Juniors & Seniors: $5,000

 

Bridge Student Stipends (See LARSS Bridge Program) of LARSS Program

Rising Undergraduate Freshman & Sophomores: $4,000
Rising High School Seniors: $3,000 (10-week session) or $2,400 (8-week session)
Rising Undergraduate Juniors & Seniors: $5,000

 

 

Provider of LARSS Program

The Langley Aerospace Research Student Scholars, LARSS Program is managed by the Virginia Space Grant Consortium (VSGC) under a sub-award from the National Institute of Aerospace (NIA).

 

 

Deadline For LARSS Program Application

Summer 2012 Deadline is February 1, 2012

 

 

Eligibility For LARSS Program applicants

Must be a U.S. Citizen
Full-time student status at an accredited U.S. College or University (Community College students are encouraged to apply – acceptance is dependent upon successful matriculation into an accredited four-year institution.)
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
Rising undergraduate junior, senior, or graduate student

 

Special Note:  The LARSS “Bridge Program” option offers opportunities for select outstanding rising high-school seniors, college freshmen and sophomores who have previous NASA program experience and a 3.5 GPA to be considered for an internship at a reduced rate of pay.
