Description:
A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for 3 years to a suitably qualified candidate with a good honours degree in public health or health economics to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in Medicine. The project aims to determine the financial impact of rare childhood diseases on a large tertiary/ quarternary paediatric hospital by developing techniques to assess the complexity of health service utilisation by children with rare diseases, estimate health services costs and identify potential cost savings. This project forms part of an Australian Research Council Linkage Grant and will be based at the Australian Paediatric Surveillance Unit, the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Sydney.
Eligibility:
Applicants should ideally have knowledge/skills/experience in health economics. They should have good communication skills and be able to work collaboratively with others. A particular interest in health services and economic analysis would be desirable.
Applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand citizens. Please note that this scholarship is conditional on the University signing an agreement with the Partner Organisations(s) named in the Linkage Project grant.
Amount awarded:
The scholarship is valued at $27, 651 per annum (tax exempt) for up to three years, subject to satisfactory progress.
